Background |
Martha's Vineyard has been my home since I was a child. I attended the University of Connecticut and obtained B,A, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies.
In graduate school at Northeastern University, I honed my skills and focused on Child and Adolescent Counseling Psychology, interning in a therapeutic day school as well as a self-contained therapeutic classroom within a public elementary school setting. I moved back to the Vineyard after graduate school I gained counseling experience in both the Martha's Vineyard Public School System and as child and family therapist through the Island Counseling Center of Martha's Vineyard Community Services. Presently, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in addition to holding a Professional License as a Guidance Counselor. Being the K-4 Counselor at the Tisbury School perfectly encompasses my love of teaching, counseling, and working with families. |
Experience |
With thought and care in my approach, I have experience supporting students, teachers, and families when students face a wide variety of challenges including social skills, coping skills, divorce, loss and grief, family illness, behavior challenges, medically related stress, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, learning challenges, bullying prevention, and other psychosocial stressors that can impact their well-being. My goal is to help implement success-building strategies so that students can be available for learning and work towards meeting their potential. My approach is positive and strengths-based.
